Service Watch Desktop installation types
Exoprise Service Watch Desktop can be installed in three different ways, depending on how the installer has been configured by the Exoprise administrator and the permissions of the user installing it.

Install as a service |
This is the recommended and most robust installation method. When Service Watch Desktop is installed as a service, it runs when the computer is started (before anyone signs into any desktops) and is available to monitor the desktop experience for everyone who uses the computer. Additionally, when Service Watch Desktop runs as service, it can collect desktop application network data in real time for desktop applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, WebEx, RingCentral, and more. Installing as a service requires administrative privileges. Once installed, the name of the service is ExoSvcShell. |

When Service Watch Desktop is run in application or user mode, it starts when a user signs into the desktop, as opposed to starting as a service. Application mode makes it easier to install by any user, regardless of the permissions they have on the Windows computer. There are two ways to install Service Watch Desktop in application mode:
