Service Watch Desktop installation types

Exoprise Service Watch Desktop can be installed in three different ways, depending on how the installer has been configured by the Exoprise administrator and the permissions of the user installing it.

Install as a service
Install as an application for everyone
Install as an application just for the user running the installer

Installation type	Description
Install as a service	This is the recommended and most robust installation method. When Service Watch Desktop is installed as a service, it runs when the computer is started (before anyone signs into any desktops) and is available to monitor the desktop experience for everyone who uses the computer. Additionally, when Service Watch Desktop runs as service, it can collect desktop application network data in real time for desktop applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, WebEx, RingCentral, and more. Installing as a service requires administrative privileges. Once installed, the name of the service is ExoSvcShell.
Install as an application	When Service Watch Desktop is run in application or user mode, it starts when a user signs into the desktop, as opposed to starting as a service. Application mode makes it easier to install by any user, regardless of the permissions they have on the Windows computer. There are two ways to install Service Watch Desktop in application mode: Install as an application for everyone: When Service Watch Desktop is installed as an application for everyone, Service Watch will be launched when the users sign in to their desktops and will stop when they log off the computer. When Service Watch runs as an application, it can be more easily managed and terminated. Installing as an application for everyone requires administrative privileges during installation. Install as an application just for me: When Service Watch is installed as an application just for me, it will only be installed by the user performing the installation and only be available for monitoring the digital experience of that user.
