Operational Safeguards: Rule Approval

This next iteration of operational safeguards within the 1E Platform introduces Rule Approval. Rule Approval focuses on visibility and the impact of rule revisions within 1E Endpoint Automation. By having a clear understanding of the impact of change, admins are able to make a well-informed decision on whether they would like to either approve or reject the request. Refer to Rule Approval.

A new role called Guaranteed State Approver has been added to allow admins to approve any revisions made to a rule. Administrators have access to the following capabilities:

  • Having awareness that a rule revision has taken place that requires approval.

  • Visibility of all rule revisions that are categorized as approved vs. pending approval.

  • Understanding the number of policies associated to a rule.

  • Understanding rule revisions details including who created the revision, when was the rule created, name and description of the rule revision, triggers, and check.

  • Visibility of superseded revisions.

  • Inability to approve your own changes.

Export from Experience Analytics

We are excited to announce that Experience Analytics now supports exporting data into CSV files. This feature enhancement allows users to easily extract and share filtered data, improving collaboration across teams.

With this update, users can export system data such as performance, stability, and endpoint information for further analysis, whether for IT, security, or management purposes. The export function is designed to be efficient, supporting a CSV format, ensuring seamless integration with data analytic tools.

Updates to the 1E Platform release cadence

As part of our constant focus on delivering continuous value to our customers, we’re happy to announce that future 1E Platform releases will be every four weeks, instead of every eight weeks. This means the next release after 24.11 (releasing in November) will be 24.12 (releasing in December). Refer to 1E Platform release schedule.

New DEX code methods introduced

  1. Inventory.EvaluateItem: Signal extended inventory item for evaluation. It is recommended that this is only run on small number of devices at a time.

  2. Inventory.GetLocalReplica: Get the local replica table for an extended inventory item if it exists.

  3. Inventory.GetReplicationAudit: Get the replication audit table for an extended inventory item if it exists.

  4. Inventory.GetReplicationState: Get the extended inventory replication state table if it exists.

Refer to 1E SDK docs.

Summary

Fix

1E Platform

PLAT-12429

Multiple auto-provisioned certificates can now be renewed as opposed to the bug where only the first certificate in the queue was being updated.

Enhancement

1E Platform

PLAT-12368

The hashed provisioning key field in auto-provisioned certificates was not user friendly. We have improved this by replacing a hashed key for the issued by field with the Issuer Subject and the Key Name.

Fix

1E Platform

PLAT-12345

We have fixed a bug where users were presented with a 404 error for screens they do not have permissions to access.

Feature

1E Client

PLAT-9564

The Users.GetLoggedOnUsers DEX Code method now includes a new column called UserPrincipal containing the username in UPN format (for example, john.smith@acme.com) on Windows. This column contains NULL on Linux and macOS. Refer to 1E SDK docs.

Fix

1E Client

PLAT-13230

We have fixed an issue where the user Interaction 1E Client module for macOS did not function correctly on Intel-based Macs.

Fix

1E Client

PLAT-13226

The 1E Client has improved error detection logic for scenarios where the client certificate it presents is unusable (for example, incompatible hash algorithm), which will prevent it retrying the same certificate in the event of such errors.

Feature

1E Client

PLAT-12369

Certificates that are created as part of 1E Client auto provisioning of computer certificate now have a friendly name included. This makes it easier to identify which provision key was used.

Fix

1E Client

PLAT-10615

We have fixed an issue where the 1E Client reported changes to Windows Store App installations as Patch events.

Fix

1E Client

PLAT-12575

User interaction state detection logic has been improved. The time that the screen saver is active will be recorded as user is not present.

Feature

1E Client

PLAT-12868

1E Client on Linux can now automatically provision a client certificate from the 1E Platform (if configured to do so). Refer to 1E Platform client requirements.

Feature

1E Client

PLAT-12780

1E Client for Linux now supports providing the 1E Client auto provisioning of certificates. The PROVISIONINGKEY can now be included in the installation command line.

Fix

1E Client

PLAT-12267

1E Client logging has been changed to show partial platform key.

Feature

CDA (1E Client Deployment Assistant)

PLAT-12746

Client Deployment Assistance now allows the PROVISIONINGKEY to be added. Refer to Running the wizard.

Feature

Fix

Endpoint Troubleshooting

PLAT-12847

The 1E-Explorer-WindowsClientHealth-ApplicationCrashes.xml instruction has been updated to include SourceName='Application Error' in the query. This now excludes .Net Runtime error events that use a different event format.
